The Steps Involved in Installing Stone Siding

If you are in the process of removing your old siding and are thinking about installing stone siding there are a few points that you need to take into consideration. It must be pointed out however that the steps apply to artificial siding and not natural stone siding tat requires professionals to install.

Step 1: One you have identified which stone siding you plan to install start by removing the old siding along with weatherproofing membranes around areas such as windows and doorways. If you notice that there are any cracks or damages on the surface then try to repair these before installing stone siding.

Step 2: One you have read all the guidelines that have been outlined by the manufacturer then install the new system following each indication step by step. You will start with the flashing system that will have to be nailed in place at the bottom and inside regions of the external surface of your house.

Step 3: Once Step 2 is in place then you may proceed by placing the stone plates on the flashing surface. Be sure to use all the tools that have been recommended by the manufacturer and not alternatives that you think may do the job. Place each plate in a row like fashion by using the interconnecting system as a guide. Some pieces may not fit perfectly, but be sure about your precision before cutting away any excess.

Step 4: There will be areas that the flashing will appear sticking out, be sure to hold these areas down securely with a nail. The rest of the stones can be held in place with the adhesive that the manufacturer sent along with the stones. When this is all done seal joints and windows with a waterproof epoxy and caulking gun.
